About Us

Core Beliefs

  • We believe a loving God created all things.
  • We believe He revealed Himself in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • We believe His Son, Jesus, was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead.
  • We believe that all have sinned and are deserving of condemnation.
  • We believe that those who faithfully enter the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, as wondrously presented in baptism, will be saved.
  • We believe that those who are clothed in Christ will be empowered to righteous living through the Holy Spirit.
  • We believe that the Word of God is inspired and reveals God’s redemptive story to humanity.
  • We believe that worship is an expression of our heart filled gratitude for all God has, is, and will do for His people.
  • We believe that prayer is an essential part of our Christian life in which we call upon the limitless power of our Heavenly Father.
  • We believe that Jesus established His church to continue His ministry of reconciliation by teaching His gospel message and modeling His love and compassion.

Our Mission

When the Lord established His first covenant with Israel on Mt Sinai, He declared: Ex 19:5-6 Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.
Again, with the establishment of a new covenant, the Lord proclaims through the apostle: 1 Peter 2:9-10 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
We are God’s chosen people, His treasured possession, that we might share a loving relationship with Him and serve as His priests, bringing light to a world of darkness.

History

In December of 2000, church planting minister, Steve Martin, and 75 members of the Sunset Church of Christ, including three Elders, began meeting as the Union Hill Church of Christ in a rustic warehouse in Nixa, MO. Several years later the group began construction on an 18 acre site. Following more than three years of mostly volunteer labor, we moved into the first phase of that new facility in 2004. In the early fall of 2009, we moved in to our new completed auditorium. In January of 2005, Union Hill assisted Sunset in planting the Brookline Church of Christ.  Sunset, Union Hill, and Brookline planted the Jackson Street Church of Christ in Willard, MO in September 2010.
